Account Self-Service

Students now have the ability to reset their passwords and manage their accounts independent of Teachers and Staff.

Self-Service Forgot Password

Follow the steps below, or watch this video:

  1. Begin from any HCPSS login page; Canvas, Email, Synergy, etc. Locate and click the Forgot Password link under the Login or Sign in button.

  2. On the My Account page, click Forgot Password under the Students & Staff heading.

  3. On the Forgot Password page, enter your Student Username (example: jsmith1234) and type your Recovery Email.

  4. If the Student Username and Recovery Email match, the Send Verification Email button will activate. Click Send Verification Email to proceed.

  5. A recovery email will be sent to the email address on file.

  6. Check your Personal Email Account for the recovery email. Click Continue Password Reset Process to proceed.

  7. Enter a new password in the New password and Confirm new password fields. The form will dynamically provide feedback on the newly selected password including a test of the password's strength, which complexity requirements have been met and if the selected password is on compromised password lists.

    Requirements:

    • 8 characters
    • Meets complexity requirements, i.e. use a minimum of three different character types: upper case letters, lower case letters, numbers and/or special characters.
    • Passwords on more than four compromised lists are denied.
    • Passwords on banned password list are denied, e.g. Fall2019, Hcpss20, Sunshine19.

  8. Once you have entered your new password and confirmed the new password, the Change Password button will activate. Click to continue.

  9. After a successful password change, a Password Changed confirmation will display. Clicking continue will take you to the HCPSS My Account page.

  10. The HCPSS My Account page displays helpful information about your HCPSS Student Account.

  11. You may now login to any HCPSS system using your new credentials.

Forgot Username

  1. Begin from any HCPSS login page; Canvas, Email, Synergy, etc. Locate and click the Forgot Password link.

  2. On the My Account page, click Forgot Username under the Students & Staff heading.

  3. Enter your Personal Email Address and click Send Username Email.

  4. A confirmation message will display.

  5. Check your Personal Email Account for the Username Email from noreply@hcpss.org. Your username will be displayed in the body of the email.

Manage Password Self-Service

The Manage Password Self-Service option allows people to change personal email addresses used for the self service options: forgot password, forgot username and multi-factor authentication. It does not update personal email addresses in HCPSS Connect Synergy or Canvas, or Workday.

To enroll in Password Self Service, follow the steps provided below.

  1. To begin, visit https://account.hcpss.org/setup and login with your Active Directory Credentials if prompted.
  2. From the Setup Account Self-Service screen, select Setup Account Self-Service.

  3. Next, enter your Personal Email Address and click Use this Email Address.

  4. A Confirmation Email will be sent to the Personal Email Address you provided.

  5. Check your Personal Email Account for the Confirmation Email from noreply@hcpss.org and click Verify Email.

  6. Your Recovery Email Address has been verified and you have been successfully enrolled in Password Self-Service.
