Combating Corruption in Mexico:
Combating Corruption in Mexico: The Future of Mexico’s National Anti-Corruption System
Thursday, October 24, 2019 | 9:00 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.
Program Fee:
Free for Members | $15 for Nonmembers
Description:
In 2016, Mexico passed the National Anti-Corruption System (Sistema Nacional Anticorrupción, SNA), a landmark plan to develop a tougher and more comprehensive approach to fighting corruption. Despite this reform, corruption has remained one of the most significant issues facing Mexico, which continues placing last among OECD countries in Transparency International’s Corruption Perceptions Index. This panel of experts from Mexico and the United States will discuss what the AMLO and Trump administrations might do to in the fight against corruption. They will examine whether the United States' vigorous enforcement of the Foreign Corruption Practices Act means that Mexico could soon face its own "Carwash" operation like Brazil and what impact, if any, the new United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) will have on the fight against corruption.
