Early Colleges: A Dual Enrollment Program that Shows Promise

Early College High Schools give students an opportunity to earn a high school diploma and up to two years of college credit at the same time. AIR’s research into this type of dual enrollment program shows that Early Colleges have a positive, impact on postsecondary enrollment and success. While Early Colleges may be more expensive than traditional high school programs, there is a strong return on investment for both students and their communities. See our new policy brief for the latest research, as well as considerations and implications for policymakers.

February is Career and Technical Education (CTE) Month, a time to recognize how CTE helps prepare students for postsecondary success and the workforce. AIR is broadening the research base on CTE in several ways, such as leading the federally funded CTE Research Network and evaluating the implementation of the 21st Century Act of 2018—the federal law that guides CTE. Learn more about these projects and our other CTE work.
