The purpose of this study is to identify the relationship of faculty exposure to and use of online course design standards within the institution’s quality assurance efforts on the quality of the course as assessed during an inter-institutional faculty peer course review process. This study will explore (1) Do instructors with more knowledge of online instructional design tend to produce higher quality online courses? (2) Do higher education institutions that have implemented online learning quality assurance procedures tend to produce higher quality online courses? Having online course quality standards and disseminating them needs to be explored at the institutional level of implementation to better understand how the local implementation of those standards and quality assurance processes are impacting online learning.
