"Wait, I've got a better plan to catch this big red lobster man! We'll toss him in a boiling pot, and when he's done we'll butter him up!"

General Sea Clamp (also Seaclamp) is a member of the Tripredacus Council best known for his crushing grip, both literal and metaphorical. Nothing pleases him more than watching a hapless victim struggle for relief as he squeezes the life from them with his viselike pincers, but there is equally little escape from his far-ranging schemes and plans. Stoic and silent, Sea Clamp rarely spends a word when a gesture or a "message" will serve.[1]

He combines with his fellow council members to form Tripredacus, or with them plus Ravage and Tarantulas to form Predacus.

"Do my worst, eh? Smithers, release the robotic Richard Simmons."
Voice actor: Ian Corlett (English), Jōji Yanami (Japanese)

After the transwarp wavefront was detected entering Cybertronian space, General Sea Clamp sent agent Ravage to track the wave back to its source, giving him the secretly-developed Transwarp cruiser. A meeting of the Tripredacus Council was then called to discuss the fact that the Transwarp wave had been matched with the energy signature of the Darksyde. The Agenda (Part 1)

Shell Game was never published. The following would have taken place in unpublished issues.

After sending Ravage out on his errand on prehistoric Earth, the Tripredacus Council tasked Magmatron with monitoring all Maximal channels, instructing him to report any communications that might show that the enemy faction had caught on to their secret plans. Shell Game #1

After recovering his sense of identity, Cicadacon looked around for others like him, deriving Sea Clamp from experiments on one of his "fellow" Decepticons. His previous sense of loyalty carried over, this time aimed at the "Cybertronian" cause, and he encouraged those like Ravage to follow the Tripredacus Council instead of the Decepticon cause. Seaclamp [sic] went on to become the more serious-minded member of the Tripredacus Council. As the Great War drew to a close, Seaclamp, Ramhorn, and Cicadacon were overseeing their latest batch of test subjects being treated with transwarp energy. They found that, when applied correctly onto Cybertronian anatomy, it could reduce Cybertronians to a "quantum state", and remake them into a "purer" form. Through this process, they hoped to unite all of Cybertron into a single "race." While they discussed their insidious plans, Tarantulas reported to the Council with startling news: both Optimus Prime and Galvatron had perished in combat! Though this noted a turning point in the Decepticons' conflict against the Autobots, the three generals found themselves giving the development little thought. When a member of their army contacted them with plans to attack the demoralized Autobots, Seaclamp, Cicadacon, and Ramhorn simply ordered him to stand down; they had more important concerns to focus on.

Sending Tarantulas to deal with the upstart (as they correctly guessed he would not follow their orders) the Tripredacus Council readied to unleash a transmatter bomb onto Cybertron to reformat the entire planet all at once. But a ship happened upon the Council's secret base within Unicron's head, and accidentally deflected the bomb with its shield. Their lair discovered and their plan forcefully postponed, the Council headed down to Cybertron, and joined together with their agents into the gestalt Predacus, to put an end to the dissension in their ranks. After slaying Predaking, who had followed the upstart into battle, the Council surrendered to the Autobots on behalf of all Decepticons. The Pax Cybertronia was signed thereafter, and Seaclamp helped form a new faction, the Predacons, in this newfound peacetime. Now free of distractions, Sea Clamp and his allies could once more focus on uniting all Cybertronians, and began their trans-matter experiments anew. Dawn of the Predacus

The Tripredacus Council ordered Magmatron to assure that no knowledge of the transwarp wavefront reached the Maximals. The Gathering #1 When their agent failed at his task of rounding up the rogue Megatron, the council sent Magmatron to complete the mission. The Gathering #2

Every table should have three "blow up Flamewar" buttons.

Sea Clamp, alongside Cicadacon and Ram Horn, was involved in an assassination plot, part of a ploy to take control of the Predacon army, and dispose of its then-current leader, Razorclaw. The plot was thought to have succeeded, but in truth they did not manage to extinguish Razorclaw's spark. Nonetheless, the Predacons' previous leader was forced into hiding, and while the world believed him dead, the Tripredacus Council took control of the Predacons. BotCon 2009 Razorclaw profile card

The Tripredacus Council employed Flamewar to check on Deathsaurus's operation on Ceti Alpha Seven. As Flamewar reported on the apparent success of Deathsaurus's Virulent Clones, Bumblebee hacked in the feed and informed everyone of the impeding failure built into the Clones. To rid themselves of an exposed agent, the Tripredacus Council remotely exploded Flamewar's ship with her in it. Descent into Evil

After a Predacon insurrection led by Flamewar in the guise of Megatron arose in the J'kozian sector, the Tripredacus Council discussed it and decided to leak the insurrection's presence on Nibari to the Maximals so they would take care of the Council's renegade problem. The Razor's Edge

Man, blindpacking is so obnoxious.

Sea Clamp was one of four mysterious protoforms found by Sky-Byte in the laboratory of Jhiaxus while trying to save his associate's clones from the Autobots. A Common Foe Sea Clamp and his comrades pledged allegiance to the Predacons in suspiciously quick time.[2]

Beast Wars: Uprising

Following Cicadacon's deposition of Preditron, founder of the Tripredacus Alliance, Sea Clamp and Ram Horn became senior statesmen of the government. Head Games In his absence, the new Alliance saw fit to "reinterpret" Preidtron's writings, using his philosophical musings to sow division between Maximals and Predacons. The Predacon Manifesto

When the Maximals and Predacons rose up against the ruling Builders during the Grand Uprising, the Tripredacus Alliance would follow the example of the newly-founded Maximal Nation and, from their new command post in Kalis, formed their own breakaway nation in the shape of the Independent Predacus States. Safe Spaces Predacon spies would liberate combiner technology from the Maximal Nation, giving the three the ability to combine into Tripredacus. Derailment

Initially choosing to stay neutral in the war, the Alliance would eventually be approached by Lio Convoy for direct intervention against the Builders. The Tripredacus accepted—but made it a condition that Preditron, who had escaped prison and become a propaganda piece for Lio Convoy's Resistance, would have to be eliminated first. Safe Spaces

Lio Convoy accepted the terms of the deal, but the public assassination attempt was cut short by the advent of the Vehicons: a self-replicating menace that threatened to entirely overrun Resistance territory. Lio Convoy attempted to get the Alliance to join forces and make a combined push on Iacon; though Ram Horn was skeptical after the Resistance had failed to eliminate Preditron as they had promised, Sea Clamp used some reverse psychology to convince Ram Horn to authorize the deployment of the Legion of the Inferno to Iacon.

The war against the Vehicons quickly took on a new dimension when the Vehicons turned on their creators and sparked the cataclysmic Vehicon Apocalypse, forcing Builders, Maximals, and Predacons alike to regroup towards Nova Cronum in the hopes of destroying the Grand Mal. The three Predacons saw fit to direct their war effort from a fortified bunker, which gave Preditron the opportunity to commandeer the army as he led by example. Furious at Preditron's gall and Lio Convoy's inability to silence the threat, the three leaders opted to regain the loyalty of their forces by taking matters into their own hands and eliminating the founder of the Predacons once and for all.

As Tripredacus, the Council reached the frontlines and swiftly beat Preditron to death in an utterly one-sided defeat. The murder of Preditron enraged his friend Ser-Ket, who used her flame breath to bite into the combiner's legs and detonate it, blowing the monster into its components once more. Having taken the brunt of the damage, Sea Clamp was mortally wounded and soon expired from his injuries. Derailment

Sea Clamp was one of Onyx Prime's Maximals. During Onyx's invasion of Cybertron, he was one of the many Maximals who battled Arcee and lost; Jetfire and Aileron came across his claw shortly afterwards. Endless Forever

Sea Clamp evidently got back to working order and fell under the command of Unicron. When Optimus Prime led a force against Unicron to prevent him from eating Caminus, Sea Clamp was sent out to attack. Last Stand

ROCK LOBSTER!
  • Tripredacus (Ultra, 1997)
  • Accessories: "Linkage system" weapon component/spring-loaded missile launcher
  • Known designers: Yuichiro Hira (TakaraTomy)
Available only in a an Ultra sized 3-Pack with Cicadacon and Ram Horn, Sea Clamp transforms into a grayish-purple lobster. He has two blades that flip out of his claws, and a white spring-loaded missile launcher that is stored under his abdomen, though Sea Clamp himself doesn't have much use for it. While he can grasp it in his claw, it doesn't hold in solidly and it requires Cicadacon's "chopping rotor blades"/missiles in order to do anything.
He can also form the legs of the trio's combined mode Tripredacus.
This mold was recolored and released in Japan as Gimlet.

Combiner Wars

He's been working on his posture.
  • Dawn of the Predacus (Box set, 2016)
  • Accessories: 2-Part Cannon
Combiner Wars "General Sea Clamp" is a retool of Voyager Class Scattorshot (itself a heavy retool of Silverbolt) with a new head based on his appearance in the Beast Wars cartoon. While very cartoon accurate, his head doesn't lend itself to easily tucking away—it actually has to be turned sideways to fit inside his torso properly. He is able to combine with any Deluxe-sized Combiner Wars-style figure, though he was intended to combine with Ravage, Tarantulas, Cicadacon, and Ramhorn to form Predacus.
He was available along with Ravage, Predacon Tarantulas, General Ramhorn, and General Cicadacon in the BotCon 2016 boxset.
The original version of this mold was used for Silverbolt and G2 Silverbolt, and was retooled differently into Cyclonus.
