We're delighted to see major players in the sustainable food scene like sweetgreen and Sage Plant Based Bistro & Brewery taking notice of regenerative grazing, an important climate-friendly agricultural practice that we’ve been educating around for years. While the science of measuring the reduction in carbon produced by regenerative grazing is still evolving, we know that this practice has measurable benefits for the soil, the animals that graze on the land, and the humans involved in every stage of producing and consuming meat and dairy using regenerative grazing practices. And we're excited at the growth in Carbon Farm Planning developed by CFS Cal Poly, Center for Sustainability and similar tools, which will allow us to track and quantify the carbon benefits of regenerative grazing and other sustainable farming practices. #regenerativeagriculture #regenerativegrazing #sustainablebeef #sustainableagriculture #soilhealth #soil https://lnkd.in/eTf5XzwD

Many of us think about where our food comes from and how the food we eat impacts the soil and water. But how often do you think about the people who grow your food and how the work impacts their physical and mental health and well-being? May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and we think it is important to acknowledge and bring awareness to the reality that farming and ranching are some of the most high-stress occupations. In order to succeed long-term, farmers and ranchers need to foster psychological resilience and be ready to seek support when necessary. NCAT has resources to support farmers and ranchers who are experiencing stress or who would like to build their wellbeing to work toward greater resilience. One resource we'd like to highlight is "Farm Stress and Emotional Wellbeing, Part 1": https://buff.ly/3yqx2Db . You can find practical information and links to many resources there. #mentalhealthmonth #mentalhealthmonth2024 #farmermentalhealth

National Center for Appropriate Technology reposted this
The Colorado Agrivoltaic Learning Center's May webinar is THIS THURSDAY at 1:00pm Mountain Time. My colleague, Liz Voss, will be moderating a discussion on #Agrivoltaics and The Just Transition. Joining her are Theodora Okiro Quarles of EcoHealth Strategies, Knowledge Murphy of Black Man, Green Plan, and Stacie Peterson of the National Center for Appropriate Technology's AgriSolar Clearinghouse. This will be a discussion around how our society can further improve upon the idea of agrivoltaics by ensuring we are inclusive in the siting of solar arrays and the provision of access to land. Liz will also share about our new venture in working with local immigrant and latinx community members to access land within existing solar arrays here in Colorado to create their own agribusiness. If you have heard of Carbon Farm Planning and are curious to learn more, you've come to the right place. NCAT Sustainable Agriculture Specialists Darron Gaus and Cody Brown do a great job explaining the planning process and how the COMET-Planner tool can help in this recent ATTRA Blog post. Carbon Farm Planning is a rewarding process for producers and conservation planners as we work together to find potential carbon sinks and soil health practices that can be implemented across the landscape.
