Build A Better Power Bar with the Voracious Vegan - Spring 2024

Teens and Adults are welcome to register for this kitchen session with local chef, Lisa Moretti, the Voracious Vegan. 

Lisa will discuss the ingredients of many popular energy bars and then share her recipe for a healthier choice.

Participants will customize the recipe and take a few "energy ball" samples home with them after this hands-on production experience.

Ingredients will include nuts.

Annual Youth Fishing Derby - Spring 2024

Annual Youth Fishing Derby: Come join the New Castle Cub Scouts  and Harcourt Fly Fishing 3G for their annual Fishing Derby on Saturday, May 4th at Alder Park.

Be sure to arrive at 9:30 am to check in.

Bring your own fishing gear* - Bait will be provided  (*a limited number of poles will be available to those who do not have their own)

4 and younger - (Learn-to-Fish clinic is at 10am) Fish from 10:30am-11:30am

The Dirty Hog Dash is open to kids, ages 4-14 years who are ready to conquer obstacles, get dirty, have fun on a challenging 1-mile course. The course features man-made obstacles and we guarantee that they will get dirty!

Kids' Kitchen - Friday Lunch Bunch - Summertime - Summer 2024

Kids' Kitchen will continue through the summer with our new Friday Lunch Bunch with Ms. Candice of Rooted in Nature Kids.

We will follow kid-friendly recipes and make our own lunches while learning the science of cooking and measuring. We will even learn a few things about setting a table and practicing our table manners.

2024 Adult Volleyball Grass Tournament - Summer 2024

The tournament will be hosting 8+ grass courts. There will be teams of Co-Ed 2v2 competitive, and Co-Ed 4v4 recreational. Please make sure to sign up with the appropriate level to maximize the fun!

Pilates for All is a new fitness program with New Castle Recreation. The focus of Pilates is help improve physical strength, flexibility, and posture. Instructor Kelley Cullen is fun and friendly and provides a great environment for all experience levels. Come join Kelley on Wednesdays from 1:30-2:30pm at the New Castle Community Center.

2024 Adult Pickleball -Spring Session - Spring 2024

Pickleball Open Play

From April 1st to May 15th, we invite you to join our Pickleball Open Play sessions every Monday and Wednesday at Elk Creek Elementary School. The drop-in fee is just $10 per session, and we offer a 7-week session package for $100.

2024 Hogback Hustle 5k - Summer 2024

The Hogback Hustle 5k - Saturday, May 11th at 9AM!

Start Time: 9:00am

The Hogback Hustle 5k benefits the New Castle Recreation Department and the Youth Scholarship Program.

The 5k race starts at the New Castle City Market parking lot and finishes at Burning Mountain Park downtown.

Cost: $30.00 per person, $35.00 after  May 1st

The first 50 to register will get a race shirt - 3 Prize categories: Adult Female, Adult Male, Youth

2024 Spring Micro Soccer - Spring 2024

MICRO SOCCER (Birthyears 2019-2016)

What: A recreational soccer program for children 4-7 years of age. Micro Soccer is all about having fun. The goal is to nurture a love for the game and to teach basic skills - dribbling, passing, and scoring.

 Dates: April 10th - May 17th, 2024

Cost: $60/$75 if jersey is needed

Tai Chi for Health - Annual 2023

ArtillumA Dance - Fall 2023

Join us Mondays from 4:15PM to 5:15PM at the New Castle Community Center for 5-to-8-year-olds Combo Dance Class with Miss Julia Speedy.

 In this class your dancer will learn Ballet, Tap & Jazz styles of dance.  This is a 30 week program beginning September 11th and concluding with the show in May.  Dancers will perform a choreographed dance piece in a beautiful costume (yes they get to keep it!) in our Spring performance in May 2024.  

Cost is $55 a month.  There will be other costs such as registration fee, costume fee, recital fee.  We will loan out shoes if possible, but you will need to own a pair of shoes by recital time.  Register your first month fee at newcastlerec.com
