OVERVIEW: The Howard County Public School System uses relocatable classrooms to address crowding and programming needs. This report represents an evaluation by staff using considerations of capacity, projected enrollment, current number of relocatable classrooms and additional programs housed at each school. School Planning collaborated with School Facilities to determine the condition of current relocatables, School Construction to determine site accessibility and restraints, as well as School Management and Instructional Leadership to determine which schools are most impacted by programs and enrollment growth. The installation of thirteen (13) new single classroom units is recommended by staff. Specific recommendations and supporting data are included as attachments to this report.

RECOMMENDATION/FUTURE DIRECTION:
Consider staff recommendations for installation of relocatable units for the school year 2020-2021 and initiation of a countywide school site study. Action is scheduled for March 26, 2020.
