NYCHA Employee Precaution

According to the latest NYC DOHMH guidance, personal protective equipment such as respirators/face masks and gloves are not required or recommended to protect NYCHA employees from the spread of COVID-19 while performing their assignments.  This equipment is currently only required for healthcare professionals (such as doctors and nurses) providing care to patients with confirmed COVID-19 diagnosis.
  • NYCHA employees have been informed to follow social distancing practices and practice hand hygiene in order to protect themselves from becoming infected with COVID-19.
  • NYCHA employees are issued the correct personal protective equipment for assigned tasks. For example, work gloves  are provided when servicing compactors, nitrile gloves are provided when addressing a stoppage and      N95 are recommended for use when performing renovation, repair and painting work.

DOHMH COVID-19 Protocols

Department of Health and Mental Hygiene advises New Yorkers on working together and staying home to slow the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) in New York City. DOHMH advises that if you go out for essential needs, work or to get fresh air, keep distance between yourself and others.
  • If you are sick, stay home.
  • Protect yourself and others, by regularly washing your hands with soap for 20 seconds
  • Reduce overcrowding, telecommute if possible.
Please click here for further information on Department of Health and Mental Hygiene's protocols in protecting yourself and the City of New York.
