Stone (Stone Cold Fox Trilogy Book 1) Kindle Edition
PART I—Stone
Welcome to Cold, Montana, where the town is smaller than a shoebox and their biggest claim to fame is a serial killer who murdered several local girls.
The town would rather forget and move on, but the case haunts lead police detective Levi Fox to his very core. By murdering Levi’s police partner Grace Murphy, the killer made it personal.
But no one can make mystery and tragedy sexy like Hollywood, and a film crew with budding starlet Ivy Stone descends on the small town. Like it or not, the razzle-dazzle of ready, set, action is coming to Cold.
Levi Fox wants nothing to do with the movie—or the distractingly beautiful actress—but his captain agreed to make him an official liaison for any and all facts about the case.
The only silver lining of being Hollywood’s primary source of information? Levi can control what they know. And he vows to take some details to his grave.
Only he and the killer know the truth.
PART II—Cold
Ivy Stone came to Cold, Montana, to film a movie about The Cold-Hearted Killer.
What she didn’t expect was to come face-to-face with a real-life killer.
Or that the killer would have his sights set on her.
PART III—Fox
Two murders, two funerals, and Cold, Montana, is back in the news.
Levi Fox and Ivy Stone need to find a way to move on.
But the universe has other plans.
Plans they don’t see coming at all…
**Note: As this series is darker in nature, some sensitive scenes and/or subject matter may be present. Cliffhanger warnings are present for Stone and Cold.

This is what I imagine real life enemies to lovers would be like. But, alas, we have no HEA in book 1, we have to wait to see if Ivy will forgive him in book 2.
I didn't know what to expect when Stone turned up on my kindle, but I dived right in and I didn't emerge until I had finished reading. I was all in right from the start.
Levi and Ivy's story really shows that there is a fine line between love and hate. They are full of snark and bite, but underneath it all there is the pull of attraction.
Stone is not full of all the fun and laughter of their previous series, it is darker and sadder, but it is just as amazing.
Levi and Ivy had me wanting, hoping they can fight their way to a HEA. And just when you think it might be going to happen.
BAM! We are cliffhangered - but that's OK, it is only a few weeks until the second book comes out. Delayed gratification and all that jazz!
Can't wait for Cold - bring on April 22nd!
I was hooked instantly because of the subject matter and the way the book starts out. Crime mixed with romance and I was bound to enjoy this. This book has such a serious tone to it, and there are so many questions you ask along the way, that you just need to know whats going to happen, and what actually happened in the past as well.
I liked Ivy, and for the most part, I was not a fan of Levi and how he behaved. I want to understand what happened between he and Grace so badly. And although I understand that he's dealing in his own way, some of the things that happen in this book, the way he behaves, are so damn uncalled for its not funny. Its cruel and harsh, and I really am keen to see how things play out in the next book.
I really want to know more about the crimes that were committed by the Cold-Hearted Killer, and I really want to learn more about Grace and Levi. Really about all of the town and the circumstances at the time of the crimes. What drove the guy to such crimes, and why was Grace targeted? I'm also keen to see how things play out with the movie and how it all comes together. Will it be true to the real life events?
Bring on Cold, can't wait for that to come out!
To be honest, any story that starts with this in its opening pages is going to be a-okay with me.
Stone, a surprise release from Max Monroe, is the story of an alpha police officer with a intriguingly angsty past and an A list celebrity pulled into his small hometown to be in a film. Problem is, the film is based off a true story and one that he knows a little too much about. What follows is mystery filled with fiery anger and and effortless chemistry. Oh, and a cliffhanger. If you aren't into that, best wait for all three.
Max Monroe have offered us a new world to get caught up in. Ivy is a strong lead who gives as good as she gets and Levi is your dark and broody police officer damaged by his past. While the characters could easily lend themselves to the stereotypes that we have come to expect of romance, Max Monroe has found a way to make them real and likeable. This book will get under your skin and make April seem like light years away as you wait for the next installment.
A story with heart, crime and a cold Montana winter, Stone is well worth the mere hours it will take you to binge it all in one go.

This story starts out with instant fireworks of the worst kind, yup upside down explosive chemistry! They mixed like oil and water...they don’t! But somehow you can feel there’s still a spark to be had if they’d stop fighting it. There’s so much more to this story than just explosive chemistry. There’s people and stories to be told. It’s stories within a story. Lives that are real and flawed and mixed up. It’s life, real, messy and complicated.
Levi Fox, the brooding policeman, keeping secrets, fighting his basic instincts to be nice and actually be a decent guy.
Ivy Stone, aspiring award winning actress, doing her best to keep it together and do justice to the role of a lifetime. She is also hiding her own secrets.
This story comes with so many colorful characters in the town of Cold, Montana. We have the Chief of Police that I’m sure we’re going to learn so much more about, the town hussy, the good friend and the bartender, the rookie and that’s just some of our good ole Montana folks.
Then we have our Hollywood (some sleazy, most decent) crowd just doing their best to grin and bear with it in this hick town. They’re just trying to make an Oscar winning movie. Meanwhile there’s a real good mystery to be solved. I don’t do spoilers, that’s what blurbs are for and other reviews. I will give you my take on how the book affected me.
This book is filled with realism. What I mean is I’m a city girl, but I envision this is what a small town of welcoming individuals would act towards everyone, no pretense. What you see is what you get. Whereas, we see the Hollywood crowd on tv everyday, but even with that it can’t always be sunshine, lollipops and rainbows.
This story has flawed characters on both sides that’s what makes it true. People aren’t always willing to bend and instead of being honest they make snap judgments and jump to conclusions. They even lie to themselves. Sounds like real life to me.
The story has sweetness, humor, plenty of angst, mystery, intrigue, jackasses, romance and heat( really good heat!). It’s everyday life, cause that’s what life is, not one thing but a whole conglomeration of mess, that somehow sorts itself out It’s the old saying, “Life is what happens while you’re busy making other plans”.
This book isn’t the normal Max Monroe fast paced fun filled laugh out loud book you’re probably use to to but they took a chance on something different and it worked. The only thing I don’t like about this book is the fact that it isn’t a stand alone book and I have to wait for the second one to be released. Come on guys, I’m dying here. Otherwise this book is so worth your time and investment. I can see several more spinoff books being written about all the other interesting characters. Can you say rookie cop?
I may be a city girl but I can’t wait to be welcomed again into the lives of the people of Cold Mountain. Can’t come soon enough!

I’m not going to spoil anything, I can’t, because this is book 1 of three, but what I will say, is the angst in this book is off the charts. My stomach is in knots with this story, and I can’t believe they are torturing me and I have to actually WAIT until April 22nd for Cold.
Favourite quote from the book:
I just had to face the facts. Levi Fox, it seemed, was a gentleman. He just had no interest in being one with me.

Ivy Stone comes into Cold, Montana to film a movie about a murder spree that rocked the small town. Levi Fox is a police officer assigned to act as a liason for the film. He is also very personally invested in the story having lived through all of it himself. Their encounters are always rough - full of anger and hatred which really is just their response to the deeper feelings they are developing for each other.
I enjoyed the story and the flow was great. Having both points of view helped the story feel more cohesive. I just can’t wait to get the next book so I know what’s happening!!!
