I’m not exactly the social type. After spending most of my formative years in prison, I prefer an isolated existence in the wilderness of Canada’s Northwest Territories, making what little cash I need guiding tourists to the best hunting grounds. I have no desire for company; I crave solitude instead, especially during the subarctic winter months, but what am I supposed to do when I come across a woman in distress? I can’t just leave her to die in the cold, and a storm is on the way.

So now we are confined to my secluded cabin, and I quickly realize there’s something not quite right about Seri—or is her name Netti? She switches moods faster than a snowshoe hare changes direction. In fact, I’m starting to think there’s more than one person behind the mystifying woman’s intense, green eyes.

Physically, only two of us are trapped inside the rustic cabin, but I still feel outnumbered.

Shay Savage did it once again. She wrote a book unlike any book I've ever read before. Outnumbered is completely captivating, original, and a real page turner! Once I started reading, I couldn't put it down. I had to see what was going to happen next.

When I first saw the cover and read the blurb for this story, I was curious to see how this story was going to go. I didn't know what direction Shay would take with it. Time and time again, she surprised me with the direction it took. I love reading a book with twists, turns, and surprises. I feel like the more I read, the less often it is I'm caught off guard or shocked. This book though, it shocked me. I thought I had so much of this story figured out, then wham! Something threw me for a loop.

Bishop is the hero of our story, and even though he's not the most typical hero, I loved him. He's alone in the woods, completely off the grid and secluded. And that's the way he likes it. Then he meets a girl named Seri. She shows up out of nowhere and is in need of help. He can't just leave her in the cold, but he's not quite sure what to do with her, either. Poor Bishop... he really has no idea what he's gotten himself into here! I'm not going to talk about the heroine much, as you'll want to experience that all on your own!

Outnumbered is a well written, insanely steamy, and unconventional romance. Shay has a knack for writing books that aren't the norm, and I hope she never stops. It's refreshing to read something truly original!

"You feel safer with a killer."
description

Outnumbered is a fresh contemporary romance with a psychological kick! With a complex plot, action, passion, and suspense, this new stand-alone will test your senses, challenge your mind, and dare to overtake your emotional stability.

description
"What the fuck is going on here?"
Bishop is a man of few words. Living a life of the solitary in his cabin in the woods has given him peace. The demons from his past are constantly looming trying to invade his sense of humanity. When Bishop finds an injured girl near his cabin, he takes her into his home. Despite the challenge of sharing his space with another human being, Bishop finds an odd sense of acceptance of his new house guest. As Seri makes herself at home, some unexpected circumstances begin to transform. Bishop, already unsure how to follow the social norms of society, finds himself sharing a bed with a very complex woman. As the friendship (and passion) between the two continue to develop, Bishop and Seri find peace in co-existing together. But as the saying goes, nothing is quite as it seems. With danger lurking around every corner, Bishop and Seri will be forced to face the unthinkable as they fight for their survival.

description
"I want to fuck, Bishop. I want you to warm me up by finger fucking me until I come all over your hand. You do know what finger fucking is, don't you?"
Told in Bishop’s POV, outnumbered offers a perfect blend of action, suspense, mystery, and off the charts passion. As the truth about Seri is revealed, Bishop is forced to find compassion and in return he discovers love. The plot is expertly crafted in a way that causes the reader to pause and ponder how far would we go to protect the ones we love? What truly happens to a person when they sustain a heart-wrenching loss. The manner in which Seri and Bishop’s connection was formed and continued to grow was meticulously explored effortlessly as each moment blends into the next. Due to the trauma, both characters have experienced, their bond becomes impenetrable and surpasses all boundaries of the social norms. The pacing of the read is intense due to the action and intrigue. In addition to the emotional depth of their connection, the physical chemistry between these two characters is off the charts. To state it plainly, I simply could not put it down!

description

Overall, I highly recommend Outnumbered to anyone who enjoys a contemporary romance with a psychological twist. I have long been a fan of Ms. Savage’s work and a once again she has created a masterpiece! I would venture to say that this is my new favorite. Bishop is an outstanding hero and joined with the complexities that exist in the psyche of Seri, this is one EPIC romance that you will never forget.

KITTY KATS CRAZY ABOUT BOOKS

‘OUTNUMBERED’: Is a full length contemporary romance novel by Shay Savage. Written in Bishops entire POV

Twenty nine year old Bishop lives off the beaten track, isolated, miles away from civilisation, no electricity to run his cabin, and a cold well which supplies water into the kitchen and bathroom, he lives a life of utter simplicity.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

He had lived a solitary life in his cabin for three years with no desire for company which was exactly how he chose to live. A shady past that saw him incarcerated as an adolescent alongside hardened criminals took its toll on Bishop when it came to his ability to socialise with ‘normal’ society.

But that all changes when he encounters a young female seemingly unconscious on the side of the road with a severe snow storm approaching and temperatures to drop he did the only thing he could do..He took her in.

Not used to having anyone in his space his mind would take him down a dark path, unsavory thoughts play rampage on his mind..But slowly Seri breaks down his walls and we see a new man evolve, he goes from Rocky who only spoke a line here or there in movies to a man uttering full sentences.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

This was a hard one to review mainly due to Seri’s character, she has many layers to her, many sides that had me reeling wandering which one I was going to encounter on the next page which made for an un-put-down-able…page-turner of a crazy read..

This was like nothing I have ever read before, unique in it’s entirety, as soon as I started I was so drawn into the story I couldn’t put it down. Minutes, seconds, hours ceased to exist. This author has such an uncanny knack when it comes to her story telling where we're transported outside of our normal lives into the wonderful world she has created.

God what a crazy crazy ride this one was, completely different to what one would normally expect from this author...But in a good way. It's out of the box unique..

Wow...wow....WOW!!!! What a book this was!! This one totally captured my attention from the first page to the last! It is such a unique story, that I guarantee you will not find any other even remotely like it!!! It is so hard for me to find a book that gets me excited lately; and especially one that isn't similar in anyway to others...This book did both! It is going down as one of my top best in 2018!! I don't have many at this point...but I can tell you this....I won't EVER forget this one!!

Bishop is a recluse..he has his reasons, and they are very dark. I felt for Bishop...he's had such a hard life, and so very sad. He lives in a cabin in the Northwest Territories, where life isn't easy living. In the winter months especially, it is all about survival out there. He doesn't mind though, and has gotten use to living with no electricity and no one around to bother him. That all changes the day he finds a woman in the snow. He doesn't even think twice before he brings her back to his cabin, and basically saves her life. The trouble is...he never thought about her staying, but a storm comes and she becomes stranded with Bishop in his isolated cabin.

That storyline alone would normally have me hooked!!! There is way more that meets the eye though. This mysterious woman that Bishop finds...is anything but simple!!! She is the most complicated woman you will ever come across! I have to say, I was highly amused how well Bishop dealt with her considering all her difficulties...and considering how he was not a social guy at all!! There were so many times I had laugh out loud moments with the goings on in that cabin between these two!!! Seriously, I found so much humor amongst all of the crazy!!!
There are sex scenes in this story as well....there were some hot scenes...and for me it was an added bonus...but honestly; there was so much more to the story that I wouldn't have cared if there was sexy times or not!!! Anyone who knows me, knows that I love my sexy times in any book I read!!! I was just so engrossed in everything else, that it wouldn't have mattered this time...but I am certainly not complaining that there were some!!

I could go on and on about this book! I don't want to give anything away though, but I will say that this is one story that I highly recommend! If you are looking for something different then the same old we have been getting...give this one a go! I promise you that you will be highly entertained by the crazy that is Bishop and his woman! LOL

Thanks Steph for another great Buddy read! I am really glad you joined me on this one too!!

I had high hopes for this book but sadly, it didn't live up to my expectations.

Something between 2 - 2,5 stars for me, but not 3.

This is a book with a unique plot but the execution of it is very poor.

Once again, I see that a very interesting plot doesn’t make a good book. How it is presented to the reader is what makes it a success or a failure.

If you ask me, this is a book with an interesting plot line told in the most boring and emotionless way possible. And what is worse, it's full of wrong messages.

***********************************************

The Plot:

OUTNUMBERED is told entirely from the male character Bishop's point of view. He is a troubled soul. He went to prison for killing his abusive father when he was a teenager and when he got out of prison, he had problems to adjusting to the real world. He only had one girlfriend, but he couldnt make the relationship last as he was not capable of feeling emotions because of his tortured past.

At last, he finds peace in living at the far end of Canada in a small town towards the North Pole. He owns a remote cabin with no electricity, telephone or TV. He does not like to be around people and he leads a very solitary life.

Then comes Seri into his life. He finds her passed out in the snow and saves her life. Then, during the snow storm, he looks after her in his cabin.

Slowly, Bishop realizes that there is something wrong with Seri.

It is not a plot twist and we learn it in the first 20-30% of the book, so I am saying it comfortably: Seri has a Dissociative Identity Disorder; that is, she has multiple personalities.

Bishop also realizes that there is some important trauma in Seri’s past and whenever he has a chance, he tries to solve the mystery of her past, talking to Seri’s multiple identities.

The book is basically focused on solving the mystery of why Seri has DID and how Seri & Bishop find peace and love with each other.

***********************************************

My criticisms:

#1.

I hate it when characters (or writers) take psychological problems lightly.

DID is a very serious psychological condition. There are various treatments such as Psychotherapy, Hypnosis, Electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) & Medications.

So I am asking Bishop:

Who the hell are you trying to solve the mystery of such a complex situation and cure this disorder just by asking questions?

Is showing love and having sex with the different identities “the new and most modern solution” the Medical World now offers and I don’t know?

Or rather than Bishop, maybe I should ask this question to the writer…

Ha ha, yes, it can happen so easily – well, sorry but I am not buying it.

***********************************************

#2.

My second problem with the book is that it is extremely slow and boring.

Cooking, playing with the cat, feeding the cat, lighting the fire, hunting, preparing the meat, having a bath and many mundane daily jobs like that take a lot of place in the book.

It is a yawn-inducing book, really!

description

We learn what he needs in winters in North Canada and how he survives the long and cold days and nights in his cabin. As you can see, along with other things, the book also aims at being the guidebook for survival in cold climates.

Therefore, it can be said that, from Bishop, the main character, and through his experiences, we learn (1) how to treat a person with Dissociative Identity Disorder, (2) how to survive alone in Northern regions of the world and also we learn from him (3) how killing is the solution preferred to asking the help of the police.

These are a few good messages of the book. So if you ever need doctors or the police, f*ck them and do your own job!

Huh, that was the message as far as I am concerned … or did I miss something while yawning? I really don’t know.

***********************************************

#3.

The last problem I have with the book is that it conveys no emotions.

A totally emotionless book!

I neither felt their connection nor their love. Actually, I never understood how Bishop’s disturbance of her presence in his cabin as she spoiled his solitary life turned into some strong need for her to always stay there with him.

Also, it was never hot or passionate between them. It was always awkward and always with no foreplay. There was no sexual chemistry between them. The intimate scenes were written in such a poor way that they were awfully boring and some of them distasteful.

Also, when the heroine was scared of her life, I didn’t feel sorry for her. I never felt a connection with her at all. The writer fails to make the reader feel sympathy for the characters with her emotionless writing style.

SO IT IS SAFE TO SAY THAT THE BOOK DOESN'T MAKE YOU FEEL! (of course, I am talking based on my own experience)

***********************************************

It is a shame, really. A book with a potentially mind-blowing plot like this is wasted with a writing that doesn't make us feel and with a direction full of wrong messages for the readers.

If you like books with psychological issues & good suspense, please read BLACK LIES by Alessandra Torre and see how it can be done perfectly.

OKAY, Shanny and I will give this a go...

Second time is the charm, no? LOL

And it's Shay Savage, the creator of Evan Arden *sigh*,

what else there is to say?

😒

Well, what I have to say after finishing this, is "oh boy, oh boy"

*shakes her head*

This was very much similar to watching a monodrama in theater, or if you have never watched a monodrama in theater, dont fuss, it's also very similar to a 'closed set of one particular scene while it's repeated over and over again'...

So, as much as I loved Evan Arden series and Shey as a writer is a master of writing a male POV, this time, I had issues with 'closed off set' and a dialogue setting of a monodrama...considering this should be a psychological thriller, I aint gonna dwell or go into details...but I am gonna start with pointing at the plot:

Bishop is a recluse and a loner in high snow coverd wilderness of Canada, he has a violent past and a record and most of his life was spent in jail, so his social skills are void and mostly non-existent BUT when he stumbles upon the half frozen woman near his cabin, the same woman he saw in the local store while he went to pick up his supplies...

He somewhat reluctantly decides to help her, breaking his own rule of interacting with people in general...

What he is not prepared to deal with is a medical condition of the woman he took under his roof...

As the times passes by, the layers are slowly peeled off, due to proximity and the fact they cant avoid each other...the situation brings out the physical need...
Seri is the woman who lives with me.  Netti is the woman who only appears when the situation is too intense for Seri to handle, and Iris…Iris is the woman who fucks me.

And yet, this woman's past comes knocking at his door and once more, Bishop has to be the person he shut inside the cabin some years ago.

At first, I wasn't really thrilled by the blurb, to be completely honest and I was a bit sceptic about the 'performance' and deliverance of the storyline...cause the fact that you can already 'guess' how it's gonna play out in the end, since, let's face it, there arent that many options to end the story in the much desirable HEA. Then I really didnt connect to the characters on the emotional level, they felt clinical and cold and crazy just like the wheather around them.

So, all in all, it was an okay read but nothing extra overwhelming, inspite the excellent writing.

Shay fucking Savage.

When life hands you lemons, you move the middle of nowhere, cut off from society and just wait for the crazy to find you. And boy does it.

Bishop has gone off the grid. Living isolated and without much in the way of social skills, he’s living out his life using the only pieces left of it after a tragic start. And although he’s never been the type to play hero, he can’t just leave the peculiar girl to fend for herself.

Enter Siri, oh wait, Iris... or is it Netti?

Outnumbered is an unusual romance, set in an unlikely place. And while there is a ton of suspense, thrilling turns, there is romance. I think what I loved the most about this book was that even though as the story develops and other things come into play, it was just these two characters through most of the story. It reminded me of the way Surviving Raine left me feeling – like this amazing experience where there was such a big story, with just two characters – nothing else was needed. There was no need for a cast of supporting characters – because these two were enough.

This is a must read book – twists at every turn.

“Open up a little, Bishop.”

I appreciate it so when I find a new author whose imagination and writing captivates me as a reader as in the case of this gripping tale set in the wild frozen subarctic tribal lands of Canada.

What I also have come to appreciate more and more is the diverse opinions expressed in the reviews of many of my dear Goodreads friends. Often, I keep them in mind or will read them after I read the book. Taken all together this creates a richer experience for me. If there is an opinion with which I agree I know more about why I agree and it also helps me understand my reasons for my disagreement with a particular opinion or assertion.

I was enraptured with the hero, Bishop Harp, and I loved being in his head as the story is told from his point of view in the first person. He was just so decent and kept himself isolated from others because he truly believed from his, not abusive childhood, but “terrorized”, childhood and adolescence that he was defective and a murderer. He found it difficult to be with normal people without wanting to bash their heads. That this could be because he was never socialized normally as a child or young adult is something he does not consider, at least until he meets her.

His kindness is on display from the start when he tries to turn his back on the tiniest of souls, a not yet weaned kitten bravely making his way from his shed to the front steps of Bishop’s cabin. He never wanted a pet, let alone a cat, but he could not turn his back on the brave mewing little fella. And so begins his healing. He learns the joy to be had caring for a little ball of fur that cuddles and purrs.

His next rescue is Seri found nearly frozen to death near his hunting grounds. He purposely chose his isolated cabin in the subarctic Canadian territory because he expressly wanted to be by himself. He tried living with a woman who was a member of the tribal people. While she was the one who taught him many things when he arrived in this area regarding survival, hunting and…ahem…other skills, he never felt completely at peace living with her as he did by himself.

I found the writing to be marvelous and ingenious. The mundane tasks for survival were so interestingly explained. The dangers of being caught unaware just mere feet from your cabin’s door in the dark in a snowstorm, sheer terror. The climax of the story was gripping. Even more than this was the drama occurring inside of the cabin with the shifting dynamic between Bishop and the revelation that he was hosting more than one woman in his isolated home. His realization of this is a stunning mixture of acceptance and a will to understand all these women. More than this, is his desire to keep them safe.

“Fear is only in our heads, but we still feel afraid. Anger exists inside of us, but we still lash out. Only inside of us does love exist…or devotion or emotional pain. Does that make it less real?”

There is a beautiful pivotal moment for Bishop when he fundamentally changes and begins a reset of his emotions and thoughts. It is after Seri keeps asking him to “Open up, Bishop.” He tells her of his troubled childhood and who and how he murdered someone. He cries his eyes out and he has never cried before in Seri’s arms.
“I’ve never told anyone about this,”

As anyone who as ever suffered trauma compounded upon trauma knows, the human mind and heart retreats to unusual places and pain shows itself in altered, often destructive thinking patterns and behaviors often for years. The best help comes from that one special person placed in our path who the traumatized person knows understands and can lift the burden of the millstone of trauma. Often this special person is also damaged themselves in some way. Herein is the genius of this book.

After this night, Bishop begins to change. The demons in his head quiet. The women in his cabin are a challenge, a mystery, they’re welcome and they’re now invited. This broken woman is healing him. Words from her mouth are like balm to soothe a wound.

There is one other clue that Bishop did not have an accurate assessment of his true nature and that was that he has some real bedroom skills. He knows how to read a woman’s body and likes giving a woman pleasure. It is…something he understands…he knows how to communicate sexually. The erotic passages are lovely and exquisitely intricately written.

So yes you will meet two Bishops in this book. One Bishop before he cried and the other Bishop when Seri helped him lift off the millstone of guilt and incorrect thinking about who he is. He changed and pledge to keep her safe and what was left unsaid is that “he loves her…all of her”. He gets prepared to defend his women from a murderous criminal. Seri’s healing begins the moment this murderer is neutralized.

So unique! A refreshing storyline that completely messed with my mind and I absolutely LOVED it!

So from the blurb and cover, you probably have some hint as to where this story goes but this review is spoiler free. The location of the story kind of sets the stage for the crazy journey that is this book. Bishop is an ex con who lives in a remote cabin in the woods where the weather on a good day is 20 below zero. He lives with no electricity and gets drinking water from a well. What he does have though is complete privacy with no neighbours which is just the way he wants it.

Unforeseen circumstances have him taking in a woman to give her shelter during the winter. At first he is all out of sorts because he loves his isolation. So from the blurb we see that Seri is not quite right but this is the first glimpse we get from Bishop's thoughts that he is not quite right either. Over time though Seri starts to grow on him and he actually starts to like her.

The dynamics between these characters was so fascinating. Bishop seemed to take the crazy that Seri brought with stride. If I'm being totally honest there were some parts of this book that I was legit scared. You know when you watch a horror film and you cover your face but peek through your fingers? That's how I felt and I was flipping high on the adrenaline rush for this entire book!!

Now this is a romance book and we get just the right amount of sexy. We also get to see the sweet and dare I say romantic side of Bishop at times. He was a fierce protector of Seri and when I think about it, if there was any man that would love a woman like Seri, it would be Bishop.

I highly recommend this romantic psychological thriller and I promise it will not disappoint!! You will get action, an unpredictable storyline and of course romance, as messed up and crazy as it may seem!

It’s best to go into this book with as little knowledge of the storyline as possible. There are definitely twist, although not as many or as astounding as I had hoped. I was still shocked by the ones that were delivered.

Bishop was quite a different kind of hero and this is written entirely in his point of view. I really didn’t feel the absence of Seri’s voice which is unusual when I read a single POV. I enjoyed watching Bishop deal with the changes that were occurring in his life and his cabin even as I was horrified by some of his thoughts. And yet, Seri is definitely the driving force of the story and I was totally engrossed in everything she said or did.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book. It was completely original, at least in my reading experience, and as I said, had a few twists. While there’s a lot of internal reflection it still had a nice pace to it. The steam factor was okay but to be honest, I didn’t really feel a lot of chemistry between the characters. Then again, I felt like this book wasn’t about the romance despite the building relationship between Bishop and Seri. It was overshadowed by the questions that when answered only bred new questions.

Definitely a great read for anyone who likes a little romance, tinged with just a bit of darkness, with their suspense/mystery/thrillers.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I love Shay Savage and looked forward to this one very much.

The premise of this began strong and I thought in true SS form, I would be hooked with the storyline and characters.

However, despite the positive start I was conflicted between the beginning and the end. What happened? I felt I had read a book of two halves. I felt that the author's writing style changed taking a mind of its own. It was too rushed (the ending) and just too plausible.

Bishop's personality changed from being an asshole to a rather submissive man. Despite his backstory (which is relevant for him to get to where he needed to be), I wanted that moody, jerky asshole to continue in the book but he seemed to have turned over (a bit like his cat) and became a different character.

So I didn't enjoy this book despite SS delivering a true to form an unconventional storyline. I pushed to finish it and was glad when I closed the final page.

You can't help who you love !
Ain't that the truth. Could be a woman older than you, who wants to make you feel. Or could be a Damsel in Unknown Distress, who is dumped outside of your cabin, in deep snow. Bishop Harp finds Seri McGuire in a snow bank outside his remote cabin deep in the mountains of Alberta, Canada, and the basic instinct of an Alpha Male to play saviour kicks into gear.

He's actually met her before in Whatì, shopping for his winter supplies. Seri is on the run and destitute, stealing donuts to keep alive. The good Samaritan in Bishop helps her pay for them and imagine his surprise when he finds her outside his cabin some 90 miles away!!!. You can't let a woman die in snow, much like he rescued Solo, his cat, from sure death.

Immediately it's two strangers in his cabin and he's already outnumbered. It does nothing for his natural tendency to lead a solitary life, away from people, civilisation, towns, hiding in a mountain cabin with no electricity, phone, any means of communication. Just him, his thoughts and his past, ruminating on life and his past mistakes
Too many years locked away in close quarters with the other murderers, thieves, dealers, and all-around criminals took its toll on my ability to socialize with “normal” society, not that my childhood was normal.

His life takes a serious turn for the worst. His "gatecrasher-s" bring an avalanche of problems with them. Something he's ill-equipped to handle, cause he's neither a psychiatrist or a meteorologist!
“It’s taken me a while to figure that out.  We’re both where we are because of the actions of other people.  We defended ourselves the best ways we knew how, and we’re not to blame for that.”

Trouble is, he managed to land himself not one, not two, but three women all at once, and they're unpredictable in the worst sense. Their "Appearance" is linked to her emotions. Stress, rebellion and helplessness make them take turns as if on a carousal
“Iris is our strength. Seri is our heart. (Netti) I am the negotiator.”
It's too much for poor, simple Bishop to handle. His own violent memories and impulses keep him disturbed at all times, add this to the compounded triple threat, and he's done for. The cabin is too small and cramped for 4 people at once, plus the cat.
Seri is the woman who lives with me.  Netti is the woman who only appears when the situation is too intense for Seri to handle, and Iris…Iris is the woman who fucks me. I stare at the solitary figure by the fire, feeling completely outnumbered.

I won't go into detail of the story more. The topic really intrigued me, the mind is still unexplored territory by humankind, who's set foot on the moon and explored space. Yet brain is still a mystery and uncharted waters. I have read a fantastic book on this topic before and have seen several documentaries, watched interviews of people suffering from Multiple Personality Disorders or Dissasociative Identity Disorders( if that's even a correct term for it).
It's very scary and also fascinating to see multiple people compartmentalising the mind, while sharing the body. Spooky!!! Who appears when and how and how shay/Bishop dealt with them is so weird and amazing at the same time. I was very confused and so was Bishop, scratching our heads, lotsa times. But her writing has clarity, which made it easier to interval the knots.
Seri, then Iris, and then Seri again. Did I just have a threesome?
How much more fucked up could this be?

The story is set in beautiful Yellowknife mountain in Northwest Canada and Shay paints a very picturesque scenario , complete with stunning landscapes and eerie calm snowfileds

When past and present collide, there's bloodshed and secret are hidden hastily in the forest.
The white snow covers all !!!. Yet the ending is beautiful and sweet and as mesmerising as Mother Nature in her full glory !!

This was my first book by shay, though the pace is unhurried and slow, her writing style is very descriptive and very meticulous. It paints a very vivid picture. Her research and attention to details is fascinating. All this making it a riveting read. It's more of a Romantic thriller than pure erotica, and I loved it very much.
4.5 Iris-Seri-Netti stars

Wow!!
Loved, loved, LOVED!!
Gripped me from the first page, to the last.

PRE-REVIEW:
'HOLLLLLLY FUUUUUUCCCKKKKKK!!
The blurb just gave me tingles!!!

I don't know if there are words (or, for that matter gifs!) to convey how excited I am about this one!!
To say I 'love' erotic romances set in a cabin, in the wilderness, with a woman being saved by the solitude craving H...would be the understatement of the century!!

AND it's written by Shay Savage!!

CAN'T WAIT TIL APRIL 10TH!!!

OUTNUMBERED, Shay Savages is the story of Bishop and Seri.
This was such a different romance than what I normally read which was a nice change.
Bishop is an ex con who has chosen to keep to himself and live with the bare minimum. Where he lives is nothing to reach freezing temperatures at any given time. So when he happens upon a women he is torn to break his isolation but doesn't want to leave the women to die.
So he brings her home with him and learns her name is Seri. Bishop doesn't talk much but Seri starts to bring him forward to speaking more.
Really these two are different from what people would say are normal but for them they seem to work well together and found their normal.
Exciting Story for sure.

Based on the blurb it’s pretty obvious what’s the deal with the Heroine of the story. I didn’t know this because I didn’t read the blurb prior to reading, but you figure it out quickly. The author gives enough clues for you to pick up on.

My only problem, it took way to long for the Hero to figure it out. The beginning started out okay. We realize the Hero likes his peace and quiet. We find out he’s on the run and decides to live out in the middle of no where. I don’t really like this storyline, because it has too many holes, but I’ll take it.

The Hero is also different. He doesn’t care for people, but I feel like his “issues” were pushed too hard. I didn’t feel the issues he was suppose to dealing with. Okay he doesn’t like people, but he happened to have a relationship with someone in the past and just because you don’t open up to someone, it doesn’t mean you are recluse. Let’s just say I didn’t feel like he was damaged enough. I didn’t feel it, nor see it nor got that impression.

The heroine has more than one personality and I hated that I waited so long for the Hero to figure it out because it’s the POV of the male and well, it’s kind of draggy to read that much of the book.

The book he very dialogue based which I loved.

I got the relationship between the two characters, but I just didn’t feel the characters as individuals.

Other than the girl has more than on personality, I didn’t really connect with her. She has some outbursts but that’s about it. I just didn’t really feel her. I couldn’t get into the mind of someone with more than on personality and at one point I thought maybe she might be faking it?

So Outnumbered was okay. I found the storyline really unique, but there were too many plot holes in my opinion or maybe just too forced of a plot?

I still love Shay Savage and this won’t be the last book I read from her.

“Physically, only two of us are trapped inside the rustic cabin, but I still feel outnumbered.” This line in the Blurb really perfectly describes the plot of Outnumbered by Shay Savage. It is not my first book by this author I read and it def. will not be the last. Her storytelling is compelling the reader to continue reading without putting the book down.

She creates unique characters in a unique setting. Not everything is like it looks on the first sight and this is a really captivating feature.

Turning page after page I found myself devouring this book in two sessions last weekend.
The heat between the leads could not be ignored and their chemistry was just off the charts while their interactions where more then unconventional. And I loved that while I thought I had this story figured out after a while – I never quite had the whole picture.

The Blurb of the book gives you a good idea about some of the specifics of the story and I do not want to add more details to that as the story should speak for itself. But from that plot you can guess that the male lead has his work cut out for him.

If you would ask me for one of these “if you liked – than you will love” comparisons than I would go for … “if you liked SPLIT by J.B. Salsbury – then you will love this book” …
At least I know I really liked this book. – so why not 5 stars ? well I liked the plot and the way it was told but my connection to the characters was not fully developed – meaning I did not cry, laugh or felt devastated during reading so according to my own set of rules the 5th star had to remain in its box.

I hope no one takes offense if I use this opportunity to ask the author a question … because it is something that has been following me for more than two years now. Will there be a follow up novel to Specimen ? Please tell me the story does not really end on THAT note (If I attached a picture with my face you would see a devastated, begging and pleading look in my eyes)

Outnumbered
By: Shay Savage
4.5 Stars!!!

WOW!!! What a page turner this one was. As I officially popped my Shay Savage cherry, I honestly couldn’t have picked a better book to be my first.

This story was unlike anything I’ve ever read. Topping the chart for originality, this story was like multiple stories in one.

Bishop is living the life he feels like he deserves. In the wilderness with no electricity, no neighbors totally off the grid. He is a hunter for his food, woodsman for his wood to heat his remote cabin. Traveling into town only a couple times a year to pick up necessities.

It’s how he survives. Never having a cell phone, never having a clock, never having a calendar. He has learned to realize when the seasons are changing, when to wake up…when to go to bed.

The only stranger that has made their way into his tiny cabin is the kitten that somehow made his way to the cabin. The kitten now named Solo is a friendship that Bishop has never had. But looking at Solo, maybe he was sent beforehand to see if Bishop could handle what was coming…

Because when that body laying lifeless on the side of the road appears, Bishop’s life will change.

Fantastic story that slowly unfolds leading us into a trio of stories. Stories that you don’t know which to believe.

If you like mind messing stories, thrilling until the end, hot steamy scenes, pick this one up and read it!!!

Maybe it’s shitty to be more concerned about the caribou meat than I am about the human woman.  I don’t care.  Thawing out this woman had not been on my agenda for the evening.

3Stars for the first half. The other half was very mundane and boring. Disappointed with this. So much potential.

This is a very unique story. It's a romantic psychological thriller that will mess with your head. There's action, an unpredictable story line and of course romance, even if it's very reluctant.

Bishop is an ex con who lives in the Yukon in a remote cabin where is he is just getting ready to hunker down for the winter. He lives with no electricity and gets drinking water from a well. He has complete privacy with no neighbours and is happy to be isolated until the spring.

He encounters a woman at his last stop for supplies and then again when he finds her abandoned along the side of the road and feels he has no choice but to give her shelter with the first big winter storm coming up. At first he is very uncomfortable because he isn't used to having anyone in his cabin. Both Bishop and Seri have something in their past that has shaped them and continues to haunt them. Not to mention they are both in hiding.

Definitely an interesting story!

I love when Savage delves into the human psyche. She does a good job. I think I appreciate stories with this feature (when they're written well) above all others; because even though it's fiction, it's reality. And it's good to be reminded that extraordinary things don't just happen in paranormal fantasies but in real life as well. That's what this book did for me.

I do want to say though... the first 85% of this book was on point- I was intrigued by the protagonists, their personalities, their chemistry, their backgrounds. I loved the mystery+danger element in the plot. There were a whole lot of hilarious moments. I was genuinely sucked into their world. Then after that 85% mark, things started getting a little crazy/unbelievable and I had some scratching-my-head moments. Overall it was a good book and I would recommend this to Shay Savage fans, psychology majors or enthusiasts, as well as people who - like me- get tired of reading the same old genres they normally stick to (or are in a reading slump) and want something a little different.

I received an e-ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review. Review and blog tour can be found on *Milky Way of Books*

I really didn't know what to expect. A thriller for sure. Instead I got a nice mystery, wrapped up in quite the cold scenery of Canada with Bishop and Seri(?) taking the helm. I enjoyed the book. It was fast-paced full of darkness of both the weather and the characters soul and I enjoyed every bit of it.

I liked the mystery behind Seri. It has you guessing and in the end gasping because you didn't quite expect the outcome. I like the way Shay Savage writes. She can offer you both vunerability and brutality all in one package.

What an insane crazy read that I absolutely love. Shay has a way too pull you into a story and never want too stop reading. I love while reading trying to figure out what is going too happen and for Outnumbered I was completely surprise and so thrilled that I couldn’t figure it out. It’s refreshing to read a story that’s not predictable. I love Bishop & Seri and then coming together was exactly what they both needed. Of course their is Solo which I absolutely love, I wish my cats where like him lol. An incredible story that I truly enjoyed from beginning to end.

I voluntarily reviewed this Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
