Fighting to Score was the twelfth book in the Baltimore Banners series by Lisa Kamps. I recommend reading the novella, Christmas Interference, first for the backstory.

Shane Masters was a professional hockey player for the Baltimore Banners. Five years ago he was in an accident that ended the NHL hopes of his best friend, Wyatt. A rift was created and when Shane entered the NHL, he not only left Wyatt behind but he left Chloe, Wyatt’s twin, behind as well. Chloe was Shane’s first and only love. As of Christmas Interference, Shane was now on the path to righting things.

The real story that played out in Fighting to Score was driven by Wyatt. Wyatt, Chloe and Shane all lived with the demons from that fateful day and struggled to move past them. Wyatt was the one that took them on the journey of healing, forgiveness, acceptance and moving forward.

In the end, Shane and Wyatt were the two primary figures in the storyline and Chloe was secondary. Kamps used Wyatt as the central figure to heal the relationships between Wyatt and Shane, Wyatt and Chloe and then ultimately Shane and Chloe. With this premise, it was a strong story.

It was written with a double POV. However, my preference would have been a singular POV from Shane. Although we had Chloe’s voice, there was no depth. She was weak and repetitive without adding anything to the storyline. Therefore, keeping it to Shane’s POV would have masked Chloe’s lack of development and focused on the healing of all three relationships with Shane at the center.

Keeping this concept in mind and focusing on Shane and Wyatt, it was an enjoyable and heartfelt read.

I received a free copy through L. Woods PR in exchange for an honest and unbiased review/opinion.

3.5 stars — I was really excited about this book after reading the prequel story “Christmas Interference” in the Hockey Holidays anthology. I experienced a lot of feels in that short story, and I connected with both Shane and Chloe. But the Shane and Chloe at the end of that story were a LONG WAYS OFF the Shane and Chloe we see in this story. In the end this one didn’t really deliver what I was hoping for.

First things first, I think NOT reading the prequel first might leave you a bit confused…or at least somewhat unfulfilled. I can’t imagine not having read it first, I even went back and skimmed the ending before starting this one.

So, on to this story. Quite honestly, I didn’t really like our main characters in this story, but especially Chloe. She was wishy washy, evasive for reasons that I never fully comprehended, and I felt like she yanked Shane around (even if unintentionally). And the author employed the “keep the reader in the dark” technique in this book, and I am NOT a fan of that. Like Chloe would start thinking about something, some reasons for why she was evasive with her family or ignoring Shane, and then she would say “but I’m not ready to think about that.” Or something like that anyways. She did it multiple times, and that kind of thing just drives me nuts as a reader. It’s a personal taste thing, but I just can never understand the purpose of employing that literary technique, except to perhaps manufacture mystery or something. But if the character knows, and keeps almost bringing it up, I feel toyed with. Makes Lenore a cranky reader. So that probably didn’t help my feelings about Chloe.

When we finally did get answers, I still didn’t quite understand them…or at least I didn’t understand Chloe’s choices and reactions. And some of them never really got resolved (like they never talked about Shane’s new lifestyle). And while I felt like I connected with Shane a bit more, I just became concerned for him with the extreme guilt he still suffered from, and how it affected every interaction with Chloe and Wyatt. I was glad Wyatt encouraged therapy, b/c Shane needed it yo.

I did feel a lot for what they had both gone through in the past, and how it was still affecting their current decisions…though a lot of that was leftover from the prequel. The problem is that the story ended up feeling really repetitive…they kept going over the same problems and not resolving them. It felt like a book that needed more meat, because it could have been trimmed down to a novella and the pacing probably would have been better.

So quite honestly, the Shane and Chloe portion of this story was 3 stars at most. The extra half star all came down to Wyatt. I was surprised by his character, and the development I saw — particularly b/c I wasn’t a Wyatt fan in the prequel. But he really seemed to have grown, and I loved seeing him trying to help Shane and Chloe move forward as well. I also loved getting a look at sled hockey because of him…it added a bit of diversity to the story.

The story ended solidly, and I loved the epilogue. But if I’m being honest, on the whole the story left me disappointed. Ah well.

Before you begin Fighting to score, you should read their other book, Christmas Interference because this one picks up in what feels the middle of their story. Chloe has left Shane and he has no idea why. I didn't have a clue as to what was going on in her head either and I feel like she needed to talk to someone about her overall feelings. Even after she explained her reasoning, I found myself not understanding the reason she left. She said that she felt like she didn't know Shane and yet she left without saying a word and not making an effort to get to know him. Shane is no saint, but at least he was trying to work their relationship out. He put on some effort, unlike Chloe who was resisting every single thing he tried to do. Wyatt seemed to have a healthier relationship than the main couple and it was sad. If he has a book I would love to read it.

The book is supposed to be short, but when I was reading it, it felt like it was never gonna end.

Fighting To Score by Lisa B. Kamps is the full story of Shane & Chloe who we met in Christmas Interference, but can still be enjoyed as a standalone if you wish. This angst filled tale brings us on a journey of second chances after years apart and pain that seems to linger under the surface. The two characters are scared to rock the boat and move past their pain that they just hold status quo while trying to make things work. This story brought up emotions in me ~ at times I wanted to smack the crap out of these two and maybe shake them to wake up ~ reminding me that love can overcome pain.

Shane has everything he could possibly want, both personally and professionally...until he loses the most important part of his life...the woman he loves. He doesn't know what he did wrong, nor how to fix it, but he's determined to win her back. If only his former best friend, her twin brother, Wyatt, would help.

Chloe is the type of woman that fights for what she wants, even more so when it involves those she loves. But, when the man you gave your heart to no longer resembles the one you fell for, what are you supposed to do? Shane has gotten too accustomed to getting his way, and Chloe refuses to be just another thing that falls in line.

While things may have easily been rectified with communication, it isn't easy to think rationally at times when the heart is involved. And sometimes, you need to do something to shake the other up, especially if they don't, can't, or won't see the problem in the first place.

Chloe wants her Shane back, the man she trusted her heart with, but he's hidden underneath the man he's become, the one that fame and fortune has turned him into. Though their love for one another was always true, she can't help but wonder, as much as it breaks her heart to, if they were never meant to get their HEA.

Can Shane and Chloe work through their issues? Is he still the same man? Or has fame changed him too much? What happens when the past collides with the present? Will it ruin the possibility of a future?

One-click now and follow along as two people must find their way back to each other as one of them must take a long look at see if he lost what made her fall for him. I like that we see the struggle between these two, yet you never doubt the love they have for each other. And when they come together once again, as they were always meant to, you see how much they're both willing to work to get their forever.- Elizabeth

Fighting to Score by Lisa B. Kamps is the twelfth book in the Baltimore Banners series and the first book I have ready by this author. Though I do not feel that you need to read the entire series first, there is a prequel, Christmas Interference, that I found out about later, that should probably be read first. This was a second chance sports romance.

Shane Masters was living it up and believed he had it all. He was a part of the Baltimore Banners, money, and the woman he loved. But then she walked away and now he is determined to win her back. Chloe Hunter wants more from Shane. Things have changed and he does not seem like the man she first met. There is history and heartbreak between them. Can they find their way back to each other?

Fighting to Score by Lisa B. Kamps was a story of friendship and love and was full of angst and emotional. This was a second chance romance as two soulmates rediscover each other and what was meant to be.

Happy reading!

5 star Review Fighting to Score ( Baltimore Banners #12) by Lisa B Kamps
What a great hokey romance. From start to finish I was riveted and couldn’t put this book down. This is Shane Masters and Chloe Hunter’s story which began in Christmas Interference. However, I have not read the book where these two began and I had no trouble following this one at all.
Shane, Chloe and Chloe’s twin brother Wyatt (also Shane’s ex best friend) have a past full of friendship, love and tragedy together. In fact they knew Shane before he became a member of the Baltimore Banners.
I swiftly became invested in Shane and Chloe. What will happen when the past and present collide? Will they take a chance or will their relationship be destroyed forever?
Fighting to Score was a well written story of love, forgiveness and acceptance. It will tug at your emotions and was at times was an emotional roller coaster of a read, but one I recommend you one click.

Figuring out the heart is much easier when you have your head on straight. Fighting to Score is about listening to your head without drowning out your heart. For Shane and Chloe, young love has become adult confusion. What once felt perfect is quickly becoming a mess. Can two broken hearts find their way back to becoming one? Kamps puts it all on the line and scores a goal.

I had issues with Chloe because she was wishy washy.. I get that you want to be independent, but the way she treated her family and the hero left a bad taste in my mouth.. I was happy to see sled hockey being introduced, I thought that was pretty cool!

Guilt over the past weighs heavily on a couple hoping to start over as an accident from years ago tore apart a friendship and a burgeoning romance. Brought back together after five years apart theirs is an angst-fueled tale, full of frustrating moments that had me wanting to smack both of the main leads a time or two. With its story set amidst the backdrop of hockey, everything soon evolves into winning and losing and is a reason to root this couple on as they try to put the past behind them to finally claim the HEA they always dreamed of.

Shane Masters lost his family when he was young and quickly found a new home with his best friend Wyatt where they acted more like brothers than friends. They were a focused duo, bent on becoming pro hockey players, and lived life to the fullest with that goal in mind. Along with the strong bond he found with Wyatt, he found an attraction to Wyatt’s twin sister Chloe. He and Chloe became focused on the future too, a future of them marrying and having a family. Everything came crashing to a halt though on an icy night that changed all of their lives irrevocably. Since then guilt has been Shane’s constant companion, had Chloe running from him in confusion, and left Wyatt bitter for all that could’ve been. There’s a lot of self-hatred surrounding Shane and it had me aching for him. In trying to do right, he always felt he was doing wrong and his frustration was palpable. Chloe’s re-entry into his life put him on an emotional roller coaster where he made a few missteps but deep down his love for her was quite clear. Heartfelt talks were the first step in starting over for all of them and I was particularly touched by the scenes between Shane and Wyatt as these two strong men brought a tear to my eye by sharing their truths. Starting over was much harder when it came to Chloe though as jealousy, anger, and guilt had her lashing out at Shane and looking for a fight when all he wanted was to love her. Chaos in his personal life poured out onto the ice and added an extra layer of frustration that saw his dreams slipping further away in this multi-faceted romance of forgiveness and acceptance.

Chloe Hunter fell for Shane the moment she saw him and she quickly became the third Musketeer to the tight bond he and Wyatt shared. With their romance just starting to bloom there was much joy and many dreams for the future that were heartbreakingly torn asunder due to a tragic car accident. The ensuing years left her adrift, confused by the man Shane’s become, and dealing with her own loss as well as helping her brother learn to live again. Chloe’s life has seen a lot of pain, pain that’s changed her and left her leery of putting her heart on the line. Her fear and confusion had her being purposefully hurtful to Shane at times which left me disappointed in her. While he was pushing her to open up, she tended to withdrawal which added to the angst. Despite my frustrations with her I still appreciated her devotion to Wyatt, a devotion that sometimes went over the top, but was always done out of love. Chloe’s journey to HEA was definitely rocky, made harder by her own fears, but I still rooted for her as everything in her and Shane’s past made them stronger together than apart.

Though this is the twelfth installment in the Baltimore Banners series it stands strongly on its own, balancing the rocky romance of reunited loves Chloe and Shane with the secondary storyline of his best friend Wyatt finding a new dream to call his own. Chloe and Shane’s journey will put readers through the emotional wringer as old hurts and guilt weighs on each of them. The pain they both experience, their sensual and complex connection, is very relatable and through all their ups and downs I found myself fully invested in them and rooting for them every step of the way. Along with an intense romance came exhilarating action on the ice which made me feel like one of the fans and had me gobbling up every glimpse we got of the players and ready to read the previous books in this series. As a disabled person the part of the story that most pulled me in was that of Wyatt and his adapting to his new reality. The anger and pity he felt for himself early on was spot-on and the following grief and ultimate acceptance had me cheering. His story was empowering and I truly wish he’d gotten his own book so readers coul’ve gotten even more insight into disability and sports, along with disability and romance. On a whole this was an unforgettable read full of angst and emotions that will pull readers every which way and I recommend it to all those who enjoy hard-fought HEAs.

Shane Masters' life is great, he's a pro hockey player, financially set, and until a month ago, thought he had the woman that he's always loved. However, for whatever reason, she's ghosted him, and he has no clue what he did wrong. And it that's not enough chaos, his former best friend/her twin brother, Wyatt, shows up at his house to stick his nose into their business. Chloe Hunter has never stopped loving Shane, but after deciding to give them another chance, and actually flying out to spend the New Year with him, she realizes that she doesn't know him anymore, so she kind of disappears without word. But what he doesn't know, is that she didn't go far, nope, she's still in Baltimore, as she hasn't given up. Shane will do anything to get Chloe back, but can they get over the past to start fresh again? This was a great story but the very talented Lisa B. Kamps, that totally gripped me from the very beginning. It was like an onion, that I had to peel back layer by layer, with my eyes watering because I could feel the pain of the players involved. See Shane, Chloe, and Wyatt, had an intense past together, as they were inseparable, so really all of them had to fix things. So yeah, that's what made it emotional for me, as those demons came out before anyone could move on. There's no doubt that Chloe & Shane had mad chemistry, and it did lead to sexy times that lit the sheets on fire. However, when they were done, it was their interactions that drove me crazy at times, because it seemed like their stubbornness really got to me, as they acted immature more than once, and I mean both of them. Luckily, there was a cast of secondaries that added in a humorous factor to give me a break from those heavy times, which had me laughing more than once. So anyway, I LOVED emotional journey of second chances, and HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL!

This is Chloe and Shane’s story. Chloe and Shane have been in love for years but over the years they have both changed. Chloe realizes that and decides that she is not just a prize in his life. So, she decides that he needs to show her more. Shane is confused but determined to win Chloe back. A sweet and touching story about healing

Book 12 in the Baltimore Banners series, I hadn’t read any of the previous books in the series but I did read Christmas Interference in Hockey Holidays, one of my favorites from the anthology. My only regret was that Christmas Interference wasn’t longer, but as it turns out, it was a prequel for this story. Note I thought this book worked well as a standalone, and I would have enjoyed it even if I hadn’t read the prequel; in fact, while Christmas Interference had some nice background detail for Shane, Chloe and Wyatt, I almost wished I had read this story first.

I liked Shane and Chloe so much in the previous book that I was a little disappointed that they were having problems here. Not surprised—their reunion happened really quickly, so I was pretty sure they still needed to work through some issues. They both had hurts and events in their pasts that needed to be dealt with, and that’s what happens here. But I was so invested in them and that original hea, I did feel a bit like kid whose lollipop got taken away, lol.

A second chances story, though it’s told from Chloe and Shane’s points of view and is primarily about their relationship, a large part of the story revolves around second chances for and with Chloe’s brother, Wyatt. It was a nice touch that really added a lot of depth to the story for me, as I was as invested in Wyatt as in the main couple, and I loved that we got to see Wyatt healing at last as well.

A sweet and touching story about healing and moving on from the past. 4,5 stars

Having just recently read Christmas Interference which introduces Shane, Chloe and Wyatt, I was pleased that Fighting to Score soon follows!

Shane and Chloe have a history together. That history started before he became the hockey star he is today. While he sees nothing wrong in picking up right where he and Chloe ended in Christmas Interference, (where he and Chloe reconnect after five years), Chloe is surprised by the man he has become since turning pro after spending time with him in Baltimore - surrounded by his wealth, popularity, etc. - a man so unlike the man she new before. Chloe begins to question how/if she can fit into his new life.

There are many layers to this story; acceptance, forgiveness, letting go of the past and accepting the present....and other layers. And not just with Shane and Chloe as their story is interwoven into Wyatt’s (Shane’s old best friend and Chloe’s twin brother). What does Wyatt’s future hold?

We are drawn into their stories - the heartbreaking parts and the joyous parts - as watch all three characters grow. Can they overcome their obstacles and find happiness both within themselves and with each other?

Don’t miss this wonderful addition to the Baltimore Banners series!

I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of this book, however, this is my honest opinion.

Fighting To Score is the continuation of Chloe and Shane's story from the prequel novella, Christmas Interference, which was also included in the Hockey Holidays anthology. I was eager for this book to release as I'd really enjoyed the novella, but sadly I struggled with the start of this book. I'd expected the story to start back up from where the novella had ended, but it's actually set a few weeks later and it felt like something was missing. We are given an explanation of what happened during that missing period of time, but I would've liked to have read it as it happened rather than getting bits here and there.

I did enjoy reading Fighting To Score though, and it's a book I'd happily recommend to anyone who has not yet discovered this story about healing and rebuilding relationships. We don't just get to see Chloe and Shane healing from what previously happened, we also get to see Shane and Wyatt heal, which I wasn't sure would even happen at one point. In regards to Wyatt's own journey, I really liked how Lisa B Kamps showed that there are options out there for players with disabilities. I'd love for Wyatt to have his own book!

The Baltimore Banners has been one of my favourite hockey series from the first book I picked up, and remains so after this second chance at love addition.

*I voluntarily reviewed an advance complimentary copy of this book

5 STAR Review by Jodi for Ruby Red Romance Review

After reading Christmas Interference I had to read this book. Boy was I glad I did. I loved every minute of Shane and Chloe's story. I've not had the pleasure of reading any of Lisa B. Kamps other books, but I had no problem jumping right in with this story. I think even if I hadn't read Christmas Interference I wouldn't have had an issue, but I needed to know more about these two from that book. Chloe and Shane has a past. One that makes Chloe now question how well she knows Shane. Since becoming a pro, Shane has changed. It's up to Chloe to navigate this new world.

This story is actually more than just a sports romance. Its deeper than just second chance love story also. It's about learning the person in front of you know. It's about overcoming the past and deciding if the future is enough. We also have Wyatt, Chloe's twin and Shane's former best friend. Watching the growth of each of these characters was amazing. I loved getting drawn into their lives. At times my heart broke for these people, while at other times I couldn't get the smile off my face.

Please check out this awesome story. I promise you will not be disappointed.

Fighting to Score may be book 12 in the Baltimore Banners Series but that doesn’t mean it can’t be read as a stand-alone, I know this because I’m playing catch up with this great series and at this time I haven’t read every book but I still loved Shane and Chloe’s story. This book was so much more than just a romance it was a journey, it was a story about forgiveness, letting go of the past and its certainly second chance romance at its best.
Shane and Chloe have a history and it’s not pleasant, Chloe feels that Shane abandoned her and Shane can’t forgive himself for walking away after an incident involving Wyatt who is Chloe’s twin.
Shane is determined to win Chloe back but will he fight for her when the past collides with the present in this must read love story........
This book captivated me, it has characters I fell in love with and it stole a piece of my heart as I got involved in this emotional roller coaster. If you love hockey and love stories you will want to one click this brilliant read. Looking forward to reading more from this very talented author and her loveable hockey players and their partners.

This book is the continuation of Shane and Chloe story from Christmas Interference. Let me just say this book was incredible. This book just blew me away. Lisa B. Kamps did such a great job writing this book. This story was so much more then a romance story. It was a story about forgiveness. Even though Shane and Chloe loved each other so much the past they share keeps coming between them. Shane cannot forgive himself for what happened and Chloe feels like Shane abandoned her. Then you have Wyatt. Wyatt is Chloe's twin brother. Even though in the beginning I really didn't like him, he grew on me. Wyatt adds a whole other side to this story. I do not want to spoil the book for you. I will just say this. This book is by far the best book I have read in a really long time. I am crossing my fingers because I know that Wyatt is not a Baltimore Banner but I really really hope he gets his own book because that book would be an amazing story to read. I voluntarily reviewed this book in exchange for an honest review.

Chloe and Shane haven't seen eachother in 5 years since shane left without saying a word due to the guilt he felt in the aftermath of a car accident they were in.
Fast forward 5 years and after a brief fling at Christmas (I haven't read Christmas interference. The book that introduced other readers to Shane and Chloe, but don't feel like I missed out by not reading it) Chloe is now the one to go off the radar leaving Shane to think she's dumped him without a word.
Until Chloe's twin brother Wyatt turns up at Shane's door looking for her.
The book is about all 3 of them coming to terms with their pasts, and trying to move forward.
Can shane and Chloe move forward together afer everything.
Is the fact they still love eachother 5 years later and never stopped enough.
Realised via the last couple of books I've read that i prefur to read books written from the characters point of view however this book was still good.
Like that this book has an epilogue 3years in future so u can get a glimpse into how all the characters lives have changed

Fighting to Score is a fantastic hockey romance! It’s is the continuing story about Shane and Chloe that all started in Christmas Interference.
Again, Lisa B. Kamps has brought us characters that we can’t help but love and root for to find their way to their happily ever after.
Shane, Chloe and Wyatt, Chloe’s twin brother have a long history filled with friendship, love and tragedy. Now, five years later they are all finding a way to reconnect and put the past behind them and let go of the guilt. Shane and Chloe have loved each other for years and now they have a chance to see if they can get back the passion they once had. They have the chemistry but relationships need more than that. Trust, understanding and honesty are hard fought for these two but so worth it in the end.
I enjoyed finding out more about Wyatt and his ability and chance to let the pity go and move on from his injury to find the friendship that he and Shane had lost and a love and life he never expected.

Another great addition to the Baltimore Banner Series! And for better understand of Shane and Chloe, read Christmas Interference! Have Fighting To Score ready because you'll be wanting more of their story! Here it is!
Author Kamps did an awesome job with the male point of view. I was so very drawn to him and the anguish he carried. Most would have just looked at him as a wealthy hockey jock, but Shane was so in depth with his past, career and his generous heart too. He was so much more than even his teammates saw.
Chloe reminded me of a fish out of water. She was foundering. She wasn't able to resolve the past so she hadn't dug her feet into the present or thought a future possible. At times, I was aggravated with her. But their story gets turned around and there's an HEA! I really like how Author Kamps ended the book. I didn't get the surprise I was hoping for, but I got a better ending than I would have written!

Worth fighting for...

After the Christmas novella about Shane and Chloe reconnecting, I was looking forward to the continuation of their story.

Shane and Chloe have a lot of baggage to sort through if they are ever to get past their teenage relationship and turn it into a long lasting adult commitment. Chloe is understandably hesitant, but she has only been existing, with her life on hold and she really needs to give herself a shake. At the same time, Shane finally has to face his demons and talk out his fears. The main person to help him with this is Wyatt.
I found Wyatt’s side story to be even more heart lifting and intriguing than Shane and Chloe. His reconnection with the things he loved also allowed him to open his heart and care about himself again. Something he hadn’t done for a long time.

A great story of lasting love and friendship with a lovely epilogue too😊
I received and Arc from the author and am choosing to leave my honest review.

I am a diehard Lisa B Kamps fan and have read all the Banners and Bombers books, but the ARC copy of Fighting to Score disappointed.

Firstly, Christmas Interference is not a novella, it is merely the first couple of chapters cut from Fighting to Score and published separately- reading one title without the other will leave paying customers frustrated and with huge plotline gaps.

I simply could not to connect to Chloe, instead of admiring her for everything she's gone through, she just comes across as weak and all over the place. Hard to identify with someone when you can't find anything to like in their character. The pace of the book is way to slow and dragged on going nowhere for pages.

Fighting to Score disappointed and is not up to the standard of Lisa B Kamps other books in the series.

Lisa B. Kamps triumphs with FIGHTING TO SCORE, the twelfth book in the Baltimore Banners series. I was excited that LISA B. Kamps continued Shane Masters’ and Chloe Hunter‘s story. She wrote their prequel in book 11.5, CHRISTMAS INTERFERENCE, which was originally released in the HOCKEY HOLIDAYS Anthology.

Shane and Chloe have a lot of history. Including a car accident that altered their lives forever. Five years have passed, and Shane and Chloe were reunited in book 11.5 CHRISTMAS INTERFERENCE. Now Chloe moves to Baltimore to see if they could have a future together. Chloe is struggling with thoughts that they have changed too much over those five years, and it’s up to Shane to prove that what they have is worthwhile.

I really like Shane. He has lived in guilt about the accident when it wasn’t his fault. Chloe has been living with a different guilt that she has kept secret. The two have concerns they need to settle and to rediscover one another.

I’m glad Shane and Chloe’s twin, Wyatt, resolve their issues. I loved the sled hockey aspect of the story. My son just played in a sled hockey charity event while I was reading this story, so it was pertinent for me. It’s a great sport who is significant for its players.

FIGHTING TO SCORE is a sweet and heartfelt second chance romance that fits in perfectly with the Baltimore Banners series. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.

First of all I have to say if you didn't read the Christmas short Christmas Interference stop and go back and read it. I'll admit I didn't, nor did I really want to. While you don't have to read it, you might get a better feel on this story if you do. With that being sad, I enjoyed this book. I'll be up front and admit that I wasn't a very big fan of Chloe though. She knew she loved Shane but she couldn't figure out completely what was making her freak out. She just kept being evasive and either telling both Shane and her brother Wyatt that she either didn't know or that nothing was wrong. After awhile it got annoying. Shane seemed like a decent guy, even with his regrets. He kept going after what he wanted, no matter how often Chloe pushed him away. All in all I thought this was an enjoyable book. *I voluntarily read an advanced copy of this book for my honest and unbiased review.*

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. That’s not a problem because this is another great book by Lisa. Her ability to put suspense in a romance never ceases to amaze me. You do not have to read the short story, Christmas Interference, prior to reading this book, but I highly encourage it. It will give you a better understanding of events mentioned in Fighting To Score.

The past and regrets always seem to go together, but when you add what-ifs and 5 years, it adds up to a lot of uncertainty. Chloe’s wishy-washy behavior had me wanting to dislike her and I didn’t want that for Shane. I just wanted to find out how everything was going to play out which only led me to not wanting to put the book down. I also love the fact that Lisa brings wounded warriors and sled hockey into play with Chloe’s brother getting back on the ice with a team. Thank you, Lisa.

This is book #12, in the Baltimore Banners series. This book can be read as a standalone novel. For complete understanding of the series, and to avoid spoilers also, I recommend reading this series in order.

Chloe is running scared. She got together over the holidays with the love of her life. Can she trust him not to break her heart, again?

Shane has always been in love with just one woman. He thinks all is well after they reconnect over Christmas. Then she disappears again. Is it possible to fix what you never knew was broken?

These characters were really something. I almost put the book down. There was a lot of angsty pieces. I am so glad I read to the finish line. This couple was so meant to be. I found it to be right on for this series.

Shane, Chloe and Wyatt were childhood friends with big hopes and dreams. They really expected to be together forever. But when an accident happened and Wyatt's life changed forever, so did his sister Chloe's and his best friend Shane's. 5 years apart, hopes and dreams shattered for some, life is different for all. They finally come face to face and try to resolve the thing that tore them apart and it seemed like they could start new. But then there are feelings that really haven't been dealt with. Wyatt and Shane's love for Chloe bring them together when she more or less quits communicating with anyone. She wants Shane but his life is so different now that he's made the big league, she's afraid she's not enough that their love isn't enough. Great story! Quick read! I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving my review.

This engaging, second chance romance is about Shane and Chloe. When Shane and Chloe see each other again, after five years, they realize they still have feelings for each other. Unfortunately, they are each carrying guilt from the past and they aren’t sure they can work out all their issues. They have both grown up and changed in the time they have been apart. They knew each other before Shane became a professional hockey player and Chloe isn’t sure if she can fit into his life now or if she wants to. Shane knows he still cares about Chloe but he is not sure how to mend their hearts and be together again. This is an emotional story with characters that have lived through heartbreak and sadness and now deserve happiness.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Great continuation to this love story (4.5 stars)

Fighting to Score is the 12th novel in the Baltimore Banners hockey series and picks up where the Christmas Interference novella left off. The story delves deeper into the relationship between Shane Masters and the love of his life that he lost years ago, Chloe Hunter. Five years is a long time and this second-chance romance storyline continues to explore the notion if/how one continues after so much loss, time, grief and pain. As with its preceding novella, the storyline yet again is poignant, endearing and the characters are complex, heartbreaking and heartwarming. Not to mention that I completely have a soft spot for Chloe’s brother Wyatt and I think you will as well. This is truly great read and everything you would expect from such a great author! Great work Lisa!
